In addition to all of the health benefits of regular exercise that hapkido provides, the art of hapkido develops our physical coordination, and sense of awareness and timing, while at the same time developing techniques that can be used for effective self defense. hapkido relies on controlling the attacker rather than striking, which is common in other martial arts. It is based on natural motions of the body and is an aid in developing both a calm mind and relaxed body.
hapkido's emphasis on harmonizing and natural motion make it applicable to all aspects of our daily lives. Because of this, the few hours one might train each week can have a dramatic effect on one's life as a whole.
